ABOUT THE FAMILY
The Baby
This sweet couple is welcoming their first baby this fall, with an estimated arrival in late September to early October 2026. This is overnight newborn care from the start. Mom hopes to breastfeed and knows it may take time to find a rhythm, so support around feeding is a meaningful part of this role.
The Parents
Mom will be home on maternity leave for the full eight weeks and wants to stay involved in nighttime care while still getting some rest. Dad works in a demanding role and returns to work around the six-week mark, right as his busiest season begins, so protecting the family’s overnight rest becomes especially important in the second half of the contract.
Pets
One small, friendly, elderly dog who is mostly deaf and fully self-sufficient with his own dog door. No pet care is required. The right candidate simply needs to be comfortable around a gentle dog, with no allergies or fear of dogs.
“We’re hoping to find someone who can be that experienced, supportive presence in the room, help us build healthy sleep and feeding foundations, and guide us as first-time parents while being collaborative and respectful.”
COMPENSATION
- Hourly Rate: $40+/per hour, depending on experience
- Hours: 40 hours/week for weeks 1 to 4, then 30 hours/week for weeks 5 to 8.
- Days to be determined: 9:00 pm – 7:00am or 8:00pm – 6:00am
RESPONSIBILITIES

- Overnight newborn care including feeding support, diapering, burping, soothing, and settling
- Supporting the family’s nursing plan by bringing baby to mom for feeds, then handling burping, changing, and resettling so parents can rest
- Establishing healthy sleep and feeding foundations and gentle structure, coaching baby toward longer stretches as they grow
- Guiding and reassuring first-time parents with patience, warmth, and confidence
Newborn-Related Household Support
- Light, baby-adjacent tasks such as washing and assembling bottle parts, infant laundry, and keeping nursery and feeding supplies tidy and stocked
IDEAL CANDIDATE
- An experienced Newborn Care Specialist who is calm, communicative, collaborative, and respectful
- Enjoys working with first-time parents and can be a confident teacher and steady sounding board
- Comfortable supporting a nursing mother who wants to stay involved overnight while still getting adequate rest
- A dependable, discreet, reassuring presence in the home overnight
- Flexible on start date given a high-risk pregnancy and the possibility of an earlier arrival
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Tdap vaccination required
- Flu vaccination strongly preferred (not a hard deal-breaker for the right person in excellent health with strong hygiene practices)
- Comfortable around a friendly, elderly dog (no allergies or fear of dogs)
- Flexibility on the exact start date due to possible early induction
