Start date: Flexible around a mid-September 2026 arrival. The family is preparing for the babies to come around 36 to 37 weeks, so roughly the week of September 15, with real flexibility built in for an early arrival or a NICU stay.

Schedule: 7 nights per week, 9pm to 7am (a 10 hour overnight), for 8 consecutive weeks, with potential to extend if available. Open to one NCS covering all 7 nights or two NCSs splitting the week.

About the Family

The Children

Identical twin girls, arriving mid-September. This is a high-risk pregnancy and the family is preparing for the possibility of a premature arrival, a NICU stay, or one baby coming home before the other. They are looking for someone experienced with newborns, multiples, and the sensitivity that comes with caring for preemies.

There is also an easygoing toddler in the home, big brother who turns three in August. He sleeps through the night reliably and is fully potty trained. Occasionally he wakes and wanders toward his parents’ room, and all that is needed is a friendly walk back to his own bed. 

The Parents

Both parents work and both are based primarily from home. Dad travels for work, typically a week at a time, and will be home for the first several weeks after the girls arrive before resuming that travel, which makes reliable overnight coverage especially important on the weeks he is away. The family recently relocated to Phoenix to be closer to grandparents, who live about nearby and will help during the days. Nights are where they need real support, so both parents can rest and stay present for their toddler and their newborns during the day.

They have had an NCS before with their first child and know the value of an experienced professional who brings calm and confidence to the home.

Compensation and Benefits

Rate: $50 to $55 per hour DOE. 

Schedule: 7 nights per week, 10 hour overnights, 8 consecutive weeks with potential to extend.

Responsibilities

Overnight Newborn Care

• All overnight feeds, diaper changes, and soothing for both girls
• Establishing full feeds and beginning to differentiate day from night
• Building consistent, calming wind-down routines to lay the foundation for healthy sleep
• Working toward getting both babies on a similar feeding and sleep rhythm
• Supporting the family’s feeding plan with flexibility and zero pressure. Mom hopes to try pumping, likely once per night, and would like the NCS to prep pump parts, handle cleaning and storage, and manage overnight bottles. The plan may shift toward formula, and the family wants someone supportive of whatever works best for them.
• Keeping a detailed log of feeds, diapers, and sleep, shared through the Huckleberry app
• A clear morning handoff so the parents always know how the night went

Household Support (baby-related)

• Washing and sanitizing bottles and pump parts
• The girls’ laundry
• Keeping the nursery tidy, organized, and well stocked, and flagging when supplies are running low
• Light, proactive organization of the babies’ space, in the spirit of an experienced professional who sees what needs doing and takes it on

Toddler (minimal)

• If the couple’s son wakes overnight, simply walking him back to his room. He settles easily on his own. This is an occasional courtesy, not a care responsibility, and the twins always come first.

Ideal Candidate

The family is looking for a seasoned Newborn Care Specialist who leads with expertise and warmth. Their favorite past caregiver felt like part of the family: she took initiative, kept everything clean and organized, brought gentle guidance without ever being pushy, and knew when something warranted a call to the pediatrician. That is the spirit they are hoping to find again.

• Substantial professional newborn experience, ideally including twins or other multiples, and comfort caring for premature or sensitive newborns
• Proactive and collaborative. Someone who brings a plan, shares it kindly, and takes ownership rather than waiting to be directed
• Calm, gentle, and confident, able to reassure first-time twin parents
• Comfortable in a quiet home with two exhausted parents who value warmth but not a lot of small talk. Come in, do great work, and feel at ease
• Newborn logging via App, happy to document the night in detail

Special Requirements

• Independent contractor (1099) with own LLC. This role is not a W2 position.
• Vaccinations: The family requests TDAP and a current flu vaccine. 
• Flexibility on start and structure. Because of the high-risk twin pregnancy, the exact start date will move, and there may be a NICU stay or a staggered homecoming. Candidates need to be comfortable with that uncertainty and have flexibility.
