About the Family

The Child

One infant, born late July 2026.

  • Exclusively formula fed and takes a bottle easily

  • No feeding, medical, or concerns reported

  • Described by her parents as an easy, settled baby so far

  • The family has bottle prep equipment already set up in the home

The Parents

Both parents are emergency veterinarians with demanding schedules.

  • Parent One works long ER shifts, typically 12 hours, on a rotating schedule that includes weekends. Her schedule is set 3 to 4 months in advance, and she occasionally picks up additional shifts.

  • Parent Two is a medical director with the same company. He is in the building about five days a week on shorter hours and carries an on-call responsibility.

These are first-time parents who have never employed a caregiver before. They are thoughtful, direct, and openly committed to following the structure their specialist puts in place on the nights she is not there.

Compensation and Structure

  • Rate: $40 to $50 per hour, depending on experience

  • Nights: 2 per week

  • Accommodations: A dedicated private room with an attached bathroom is available for the specialist’s use. This is a separate space, not the nursery or a shared living area.

Responsibilities

Overnight Newborn Care

  • Full overnight care so both parents sleep uninterrupted

  • Bottle preparation, feeding, diapering, and soothing through the night

  • Establishing and reinforcing consistent sleep and feeding rhythms as the baby moves out of the newborn stage

  • Guiding the family toward longer sleep stretches and healthy sleep habits, with the goal of an independent sleeper

  • Clear written or verbal handoff each morning so the parents know how the night went

Household Support

  • Bottle washing and prep for the following day

  • Nursery tidying and infant laundry

  • Nothing beyond care of the baby and the baby’s spaces

Parent Coaching

Because these are first-time parents, coaching is a real part of this role. They want to understand the framework and carry it through on the nights coverage is not in place. A specialist who teaches as she works will thrive here.

Ideal Candidate

  • Experienced newborn care specialist with a strong track record in overnight care and sleep foundation work

  • Comfortable leading and educating first-time parents with warmth rather than authority

  • Compassionate, kind, respectful, and honest
