Location: 7th and Northern, Phoenix
Start Date: ASAP
Reference Code: TNJPT2235
Term: Long-term, one-year commitment to start
Are you an organized, proactive nanny who enjoys bringing structure to busy afternoons and becoming a trusted part of a family’s day-to-day routine?
The Nanny Joynt is partnering with a wonderful North Central Phoenix family to find a warm, dependable Nanny/Family Assistant for their bright and social 8-year-old daughter. With a full school and activity schedule, this family is looking for someone who can step in each afternoon, take ownership of the moving pieces, and help keep both their daughter and home running smoothly.
Their daughter will always be the heart of the role, from school pickup and homework to practices, activities, and the occasional playdate. Before pickup and during natural downtime, the family would also love someone who is happy to pitch in with light household organization, errands, laundry, and daily resets. This is a great fit for someone who is naturally tidy, takes initiative, and enjoys leaving both a child and a home feeling set up for success at the end of the day.
About the Family
The Child
One daughter, 8 years old and turning 9 this fall, in third grade at a private school three minutes from the home.
- Bright, capable, and very independent, with a great sense of humor
- Spends much of her time around adults and prefers to be spoken to like a person, not a little kid
- Warms up quickly and genuinely enjoys having another adult around who is fun to talk to
- Needs support with follow-through more than anything else. Homework and reading can turn into a negotiation, and her parents want someone who will hold the line calmly and consistently
- A busy athlete and student with personal training, tutoring, lacrosse, and golf and piano returning to the schedule this fall
When the nanny is here, the nanny is in charge, and her parents will back that up every time.
The Parents and Household
- Mom owns her own company and works from an outside office. She is flexible and in and out during the day.
- Dad is home during the day and works from a dedicated home office while taking classes.
- A housekeeper comes weekly, and a private chef delivers prepared meals every Monday, including the third grader’s lunches
Pets
The family has four dogs. Dad manages all of them entirely, including afternoon feeding, and no pet responsibilities fall to the nanny. Comfort in a home with multiple dogs is a must.
Position Details
Schedule
Monday, Wednesday & Friday: 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM
Tuesday & Thursday: 1:00 PM to 8:30 PM
30 guaranteed hours per week
What the day actually looks like: the window before school pickup is dedicated to household support. School dismisses at 3:00, and the nanny leaves around 2:15-2:30 to get in the pickup line. From that point on, the afternoon belongs to her, including snack, homework, activities, transportation, and playdates. Most afternoons and evenings are spent out at practices and tutoring rather than at home, so household work happens primarily in that first window and on lighter days.
No travel or overnights are expected. Occasional weekend or evening babysitting is welcome and available for additional hours, though it is not part of the guaranteed schedule.
Compensation & Benefits
$30-$32 per hour DOE
Benefits include:
- 30 guaranteed hours per week
- W-2 employment
- Paid Vacation
- Paid Sick Days
- A dedicated family vehicle provided for all work driving
Household Support
The window before pickup is roughly 90 minutes, and no one is expected to do all of the following in a single afternoon. A few of these are daily, and the rest rotate through the week as time allows. The family will work out a rhythm together during the first few weeks.
Most days:
- Kitchen reset, surfaces wiped, dishwasher run or emptied
- The child’s laundry, moved along and put away
- Her bedroom tidied and bed made
- Lunchbox unpacked and cleaned after pickup
- Coffee maker reset for the morning
- Mail brought in
Rotating through the week, as time allows:
- Light vacuum and reset of the main living areas
- Pantry and refrigerator organization, including the reset around the family’s weekly meal delivery
- Restocking household beverages
- Sheets and towels
- Fueling, washing, and keeping the family vehicle tidy
- Errands such as groceries, dry cleaning, and pet supply pickup
- Occasional light organization projects as needs arise
Childcare Responsibilities
- School pickup daily, three minutes from the home
- Afternoon snack, including light prep as needed
- Homework, tutoring assignments, and daily reading, seen through to completion
- Driving to and supervising all afternoon and evening activities, including personal training in Arcadia, tutoring, lacrosse practice in North Scottsdale, and golf and piano once added back
- Staying on site during activities rather than dropping off and leaving
- Enforcing screen limits. Television and phone come after homework, tutoring, and reading are finished
- Occasional playdates, including driving a friend home or taking both girls out for the afternoon
- Holding household rules consistently, including following through on consequences when needed
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Have strong school-age experience and a solid track record of professional nanny work
- Be warm, confident, and consistent, with the ability to set clear expectations and follow through
- Be naturally organized, tidy, and proactive, noticing what needs to be done without constant direction
- Be dependable, punctual, and flexible enough to pivot with changing activities, playdates, or family plans
- Be an excellent, focused driver with an impeccable driving record and absolutely no phone use behind the wheel
If This Sounds Like You…
If you love the elementary years, take pride in a home that feels handled, and want a family who is clear, direct, and backs you up, we would love to hear from you.
