The Nanny Joynt is thrilled to partner with a warm, easygoing family in Paradise Valley looking for a long-term nanny/family assistant. The role will primarily center around their happy, active 8-month-old daughter, along with helping keep the home organized and running smoothly during naps and downtime.

You’ll also be joining an established care team, as the family’s long-term nanny primarily works afternoons and evenings. They’re hoping to find someone collaborative, flexible, and comfortable communicating and working alongside another nanny. The family has flexibility with the schedule and is most focused on finding the right long-term fit: someone who genuinely loves young children and enjoys being helpful around the home.

8-Month-Old Daughter

• Happy, easygoing, determined, and very much on the move

• Attends preschool weekday mornings from approximately 9:00 AM to 12:00/1:00 PM
• Typically naps in the afternoon
• At a fun stage of building his independence

The Parents

Mom is currently home and frequently in and out managing family life and various projects, including building their new home nearby in Paradise Valley. Dad works and travels frequently.

The family is warm, easygoing, and values having a positive, stable home. They appreciate caregivers who are flexible, communicative, proactive, and genuinely enjoy being part of family life.

Pets

One friendly Golden Retriever, candidate MUST be comfortable around dogs!

Position Details

Schedule

• Monday-Friday, approximately 7:30 AM-3:30 PM
• Up to 40 guaranteed hours per week
• The family is flexible for the right candidate and is open to an earlier end time around 1:00 or 2:00 PM

Occasional evening or weekend hours may be available for candidates interested in additional hours but are never required.

• No regular travel required
• Occasional family travel may be available for candidates interested in traveling
• Trips may include occasional weekends in Flagstaff or approximately week-long trips a couple of times per year
• Openness to travel is a plus but is not required

Compensation & Benefits

• $32-35/hour DOE
• W-2 Household Employee
• Guaranteed hours based on the agreed-upon schedule

What You’ll Be Doing

This is a nanny/family assistant role that combines hands-on infant and toddler care with family-assistant support. The children are always the priority, while nap times, preschool hours, and overlap with the family’s afternoon nanny provide opportunities to help keep the household organized and running smoothly.

Childcare Responsibilities

• Provide warm, attentive, and developmentally appropriate care for the baby
• Manage bottles and feedings, naps, diapering, and daily routines
• Prepare simple purées and baby-friendly foods
• Support developmental milestones through engaging, age-appropriate play and activities
• Care for the 3-year-old when he is home
• Encourage his growing independence while providing calm and consistent boundaries
• Maintain engaging, screen-free days
• Plan age-appropriate activities and outings as trust is established
• Assist with preschool dropoff and pickup as needed over time
• Follow the family’s calm, patient approach to explaining, redirecting, and offering appropriate choices
• Communicate clearly with the parents and coordinate smoothly with the family’s long-term nanny

Family Assistant Support

• Family and children’s laundry, including folding and putting away
• Make beds and help keep the home tidy and reset throughout the day
• Keep children’s spaces and shared living areas organized
• Kitchen cleanup and wiping down counters
• Monitor household items and help keep commonly used supplies stocked
• Grocery shopping and household errands
• Occasional light family meal prep using recipes provided by the family
• Light pet care, such as refreshing water and letting the dog outside

The family has professional cleaners who handle deep cleaning. They are looking for someone who naturally notices what needs to be done and is happy to jump in and help during downtime.

Working as a Team

The family’s long-term nanny primarily works afternoons, so there will be some overlap between the two positions.

• Comfortable working alongside another experienced nanny and communicating openly
• Willing to shift between childcare and family-assistant tasks based on what the household needs
• Collaborative and respectful of each caregiver’s responsibilities

During overlap, one nanny may focus on the baby while the other handles an errand, household responsibility, or time with the older child.

The Ideal Candidate

We’re looking for someone who is:

• An experienced professional nanny with strong hands-on infant experience
• Comfortable and confident caring for children ages 0-5
• Warm, calm, patient, and consistently positive
• Proactive and able to recognize what needs to be done without requiring constant direction
• Flexible and comfortable with days that may look a little different
• Professional, dependable, and consistent
• Collaborative and comfortable working alongside another nanny
• Comfortable working with a parent who is home and in and out throughout the day
• Confident providing calm boundaries and redirection to a toddler
• Comfortable balancing childcare with family-assistant responsibilities
• Newborn experience or newborn care training/certification
• Strong swimmer and comfortable around a pool
• Love of music or musical background
• Openness to occasional family travel
