This is a long-term, salaried role designed for a professional who thrives on reliability, communication, and flexibility—someone who can help maintain household order, care for beloved pets, and provide thoughtful support when the family travels.
About the Family:
- Parents: Both busy professionals who occasionally travel for work
- Children:
- Daughter (14), an independent, thoughtful teen
- Son (17), mostly self-sufficient
Pets: Two loving dogs + one cat — must be pet-friendly and comfortable with feeding, letting out, and responsible hands-on pet care
This family deeply values trust, follow-through, and open communication. After a difficult loss involving a pet during travel, they’re now looking for someone with a calm presence, good judgment, and strong references.
Position Details:
Schedule:
- Part-time during the week (average 25-30), primarily in the afternoon
- Full-time when the family is traveling (40+ hours/week during those periods)
- Typical hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–1:00pm (flexibility needed for errands, overnights, longer days, and occasional mornings)
- Travel Coverage: Family typically travels 6–8 weeks per year (including October, March, and December); overnights will be required during these periods
Compensation and Benefits:
- Annual Salary: $58,000–$60,000 DOE (based on a full year, regardless of reduced weekly hours)
- W2 Employment, Paid Vacation, Paid Holidays, and Paid Sick Hours
- Guaranteed Hours
- One-Year Work Agreement Required
Responsibilities:
Household Management:
- General organization and upkeep of main living areas
- Running errands, grocery shopping, post office runs, dry cleaning drop-off, etc.
- Meal planning, light cooking, and kitchen clean-up
- Sweeping, mopping, dishes, trash/recycling, and general tidying
- Laundry and linen care for the family
- Managing pet routines: feeding, walking, letting outside, and occasional vet visits
- Overseeing the home while parents travel, including pet care, light cleaning, and occasional overnights
- Coordinating with car maintenance services or handling minor scheduling needs
Family Support:
- Pick-ups/drop-offs at school, practice, or events
- Companionship and supervision when parents are out of town
- Communicating with parents as needed and maintaining reliability and availability
The Ideal Candidate:
- Experienced: Minimum 2 years of verified experience as a Household Manager or Family Assistant
- Responsible + Mature: Professional with a calm demeanor, good judgment, and proactive follow-through
- Pet-Friendly: Loves dogs and cats and is confident in managing pet safety and care
- Flexible: Willing to adjust weekly schedules based on travel needs, offer occasional overnights, and help as needed
- Teen-Savvy: Comfortable around older children; friendly but not overly “parental”
- Discreet + Professional: Understands boundaries, respects privacy, and communicates well
