We can’t wait to introduce you to this warm and caring family seeking an experienced, calm, and highly competent Newborn Care Specialist (NCS) to provide overnight support for their 7-week-old (10 weeks at start) baby boy and help establish a gentle, consistent feeding and sleep schedule. Due to the high volume of hours this family is very open to splitting these shifts with two highly skilled NCS’.
Requirements to apply for this position:
- A true newborn professional who is confident, gentle, and highly experienced with overnight care. NCS Certificate is REQUIRED
- Skilled in helping families shift from “cue-based feeding/sleep” into a more predictable routine
- Strong understanding of infant sleep development and age-appropriate expectations (7–12 weeks+)
- Comfortable with bottle-feeding, overnight wake windows, and soothing strategies
- Calm communication style and able to support first-time parents with reassurance and clear guidance
- Comfortable with pets and light pet support as requested
- Reliable, discreet, and respectful of the family’s home and privacy
About the Family:
Child:
- Infant boy, 7 weeks old – 10 weeks at start
- Happy, doing well overall
- Family is currently feeding on demand (no set schedule yet)
- Currently troubleshooting feeding due to suspected cow’s milk protein allergy and recent rash
- Working closely with a pediatrician and a lactation consultant
- Family may do a short “gut reset” and is transitioning formula types, with possible breastmilk supplementation
Household Notes:
- Home includes multiple pets (4 small dogs and cats) NCS will need to let the dogs out when you arrive and then again before you leave in the morning.
- Family is looking for a confident newborn professional who can bring structure, support, and calm guidance during this amazing season of their lives.
Position Details:
Schedule: Overnight coverage (high-volume schedule) Family is very open to splitting these shifts between to NCS candidates.
- 7 nights/week coverage – 10pm until 10am each night
Sleeping Arrangements:
- NCS will have a dedicated rest space in baby’s nursery
- Twin sleeper sofa (pull-out) provided
- Access to a full bathroom (sink, toilet, shower)
Compensation:
- Hourly Rate: $50–$55/hour DOE
- This is a temporary, overnight newborn care role
Responsibilities:
Newborn Overnight Care:
- Provide full overnight infant care with a calm and nurturing approach
- Handle all overnight feedings (baby is currently bottle-fed)
- Support baby back to sleep using developmentally appropriate soothing techniques
- Maintain a peaceful overnight environment to help the baby settle efficiently
- Monitor feeding patterns, sleep stretches, and overall comfort overnight
Sleep Conditioning + Routine Building:
This family is specifically seeking an NCS who can confidently guide them through gentle sleep conditioning and help establish a sustainable routine.
Key priorities include:
- Creating a realistic nighttime rhythm for baby (age-appropriate and flexible)
- Supporting longer stretches of sleep over time through gentle methods
- Implementing twilight feeds / dream feeds when appropriate to reduce full wake-ups
- Helping parents understand what a daytime schedule should look like to support better nights
- Providing simple, confidence-building feedback so parents feel supported and informed
Feeding Support:
- Follow family’s feeding plan closely as they transition formula types
- Keep bottles clean, sanitized, and organized
- Track reactions and communicate clearly with parents about any overnight concerns
- Maintain a clean, orderly nursery and feeding area
Light Overnight Household Support (Child-Related Only):
- Wash and prepare bottles used overnight
- Keep nursery clean and stocked (diapers, wipes, formula items, etc.)
Pet-Friendly Support:
- Must be comfortable working in a home with dogs and cats
- Family requests the NCS assist with a quick pet potty break upon arrival and again upon departure (as their current doula has been doing)
